Calling on city urbanites keen to open up their world with new perspectives – on 30th August 2014, the Heineken Cities Festival brought together some of the world’s top city experiences in this unique urban street festival at Ann Siang Hill and Club Street, which exemplifies the cosmopolitan nature of Singapore as a melting pot of cultures.

Upon receiving the invitation, I knew I had to bring the enthusiastic Australian boyfriend – he’s a beer guzzler and Heineken is one of his favorites!

My friends Albert and Pearlyn came with us to check out the festival as we had dinner together nearby to celebrate Albert’s birthday and when we told them about this event they were keen to join in!

To say that the festival had a hugeee turn out would be an understatement. The entire area was absolutely PACKED to the brim with throngs of eager people literally having to brush up against each other just to get around. I was expecting a crowd, but not one this big and boisterous! Crazy party go-ers were everywhere with party hats and props that were being given out by Heineken. The ambience was infectious and it was easy to get caught up in the moment with good company, music and a few drinks.

There were roving performances from sexy Brazilian samba dancers, drummers and break-dancers who will brought the vibrant spirit and flavours of New York, London, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai. Highlights of the evening included live music spun by internationally renowned female singer-songwriter-producer-DJ Rae, as well as a live mural painting by local visual artist, illustrator and founder of OIC (Organisation of Illustrators Council), Mindflyer with his colourful flight and escapism themed artwork.

Enjoyed in over 198 countries around the world, Heineken is Singapore’s most enjoyed premium international beer. A well-balanced and smooth lager known for its pure taste and consistent quality, Heineken is also renowned the world over for its innovative initiatives. As seen below is my boyfriend who was more than happy to order a few buckets of liquid gold that make him happy.

The Limited City Edition Heineken bottles comprising New York, London, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai and Singapore will be available at all bars which serve Heineken island-wide till end September, while stocks last. The special Singapore edition of the Heineken Cities series will be exclusive to Singapore and will retail between $12 to $18 each, along with the others in the series.

This super hip uncle was walking around cheers-ing everyone he came across, and gamely posed for a picture! Go uncle!!! You’re never too old to par-tay!

I think the event definitely succeeded with flying colours in what it set out to do – to bring different people of all ages, races and diversities from around the world together for one common cause – have a Heineken beer, and make tons of merry!

Thanks for the fun night out, Heineken! It’s been a long time since I did something like this, I’m always at home with a movie and rabbits on my couch, so a social night out like this to let my hair down was way overdue.
